Dayton Summer Arts at Stivers 2010


Students can imagine, create, achieve and thrive in Dayton Summer Arts at Stivers, a series of workshops held at the school, 1313 E. Fifth St.  

We will offer more than 20 summer classes in visual and performing arts for Dayton area students in grades four through 12 who want to be fully engaged in arts education.  

Classes run June 21 through July 2. Courses include orchestra, band, piano, ceramics, printmaking, creative writing, painting, drawing, musical theatre, sculpture, dance, jazz, film and video production, and photography. Registration is currently under way.

Stivers TigersWelcome to Stivers School for the Arts. We offer programs in music, dance, theater and the visual arts, as well as a full range of quality academics.

Stivers School for the Arts is the only public school in the Dayton City School District that has been designated as a grade 7-12 school.

Students enter Stivers at the 7th grade level by audition and make a full 6 year commitment.

Students at Stivers major in Arts themes of Band, Orchestra, Choir, Piano, Dance, Creative Writing, Theater and Visual Arts. Special features of the Arts programs include weekly, individualized instruction, special seminars, master classes and extensive opportunities for performance and creative expression.

Students are provided instruction through one-on-one contact with many of the community's leading professional and performing artists. Art themes are integrated into the general curriculum.

Stivers has a rigorous academic program that consistently produces test scores that far exceed all other schools in the district. Stivers' state report card is similar to that of high-performing suburban schools. Stivers is a prime example of how participation in the Arts enhances academic performance.

Stivers has been called the "Crown Jewel" in the Dayton Public School System by the Dayton newspapers.
